Joyce A. Hollandsworth, age 80, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 5, 2026.
Joyce Ann Hollandsworth (Marcum) was born July 3, 1945, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Rose (Agee) and Delbert Marcum. On June 7, 1961, she married R.D. Hollandsworth, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2016.
Joyce’s love of Jesus shone through her life, leading many to welcome Him into their hearts. She was baptized at Bobby Grove’s Soul-Winners’ Church in the early 1970s. She was a devoted member of Hamilton Christian Center and Grace Chapel Church, where she faithfully raised her children and grandchildren.
Joyce and R.D. owned Hollandsworth’s Grocery on Lenox Avenue, lovingly referred to by the family as “the store.” There, Joyce and R.D. cultivated a deep sense of community for their neighborhood, family, and friends. Their children took turns helping run the store, filling the space with laughter, lively conversation, and countless memories.
The sense of community Joyce and R.D. created at the store extended into their home, which was always a peaceful place that offered belonging and joy to all who visited. Many of the family’s favorite memories were made on Joyce’s porch or gathered in her living room.
Joyce deeply loved her children and grandchildren. She and R.D. devoted their lives to supporting and caring for their family, creating traditions that continue today, including long road trips to Clearwater Beach and slow drives through the Great Smoky Mountains to watch the leaves change in fall.
Joyce loved learning and researching new things, and she eagerly shared her discoveries with anyone willing to listen. Her quick wit and unmistakable laugh were hallmarks of her spirit and will live on through the family who loved her.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Robert Jr.) Clark, Richard (Bonnie) Hollandsworth, Debbie (Bill) Jarvis, and Billie Jo (Bobby) Bias; grandchildren Sarah Baker, Coty Clark, and Bobbie Jo Clark; Caleb Hollandsworth, Harvey Hollandsworth, Ryan (Jamie) Kerby, and Nathan (Abby) Schwecke; Joshua (Hannah) Jarvis, William Jarvis Jr., Danielle Burns, and Jeff Jarvis; and Nolan Bias. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Anya Walker, Israel Glasier, and Messiah Glasier; Wesley Hollandsworth; Hayden Burns and Brooklen Burns; Violet Jarvis; and her brother Darryl Marcum, as well as the beloved family pet, Chauncey, whom she affectionately called “Cowboy.”
In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her firstborn son, Samuel Hollandsworth; her sisters, Linda Wyatt and Jane Anderson; her brother, David Marcum; and her best friend, Brenda Reeves. She was also preceded in death by several beloved family pets: Boo Boo, Mugs, Honie, Puff, Olice, and Josie.
A graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:45 a.m. with Pastor Josh Willis officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hospice of Cincinnati in Hamilton, Ohio, for the compassionate care they provided Joyce in her final days.
Joyce’s children and grandchildren find comfort in knowing that she and R.D. will continue to watch over them through the prayers they so faithfully offered throughout their lives. Though she will be deeply missed, her faith reminds us that this is not goodbye, but until we meet again.
