On July 27, 2025, our precious Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma took the hand of her one and only love as they were reunited at the gates of Heaven. Marlene Yvonne (Black) Roach passed away at 10:33 am, July 27 at the Hamilton location of Hospice of Cincinnati. Marlene was born March 3, 1934 to the late Clem and Maycel (Garrod) Black in Hamilton, Ohio. Also, preceding Marlene in death are was her mother Maycel Stump and sister Geraldine Black.
At the age of 17, she met her partner for life, Harrison “Haircut” Roach Jr., and married him May 12, 1951. They shared the home they built on Lindenwood Lane in Fairfield, Ohio for 61 years. This home was their pride and joy. After Haircut (her beloved husband of 67 years) preceded her in going to his Heavenly home in 2018, she continued to live in their home, feeling his presence in every tree, flower and room of their home.
Marlene and her daughter Shelley shared a bond through the joys and challenges of life. Shelley’s future days are forever changed with her passing. Shelley’s two children were especially devoted to her: Jim (Amy) Koehler and Ashley Koehler. Her two great-grandchildren, Mason and Maddie, got to experience the happiness of having a Great-Grandma.
Marlene’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mercy Hospital I.C.U. of Fairfield, and the inpatient acute rehab unit of Mercy Hospital. Special thanks goes to Dr. Jennifer Winters and her staff and Hospice of Cincinnati in Hamilton. The gentle caring given to her was priceless. Love and thanks also goes to her brother-in-law Orville Roach for his constant support, love and prayers.
A private service to celebrate the life of Marlene Yvonne Roach will be handled by Rose Hill Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest next to her partner for life Haircut.
