News Death Notice

BOWMAN, Oscar Age 92 of Hamilton, passed away on Monday December 23, 2013 at Golden Years Nursing Home. He was born in Endee, Kentucky on June 26, 1921 the son of the late John H. and Nancy (Botner) Bowman. On August 9, 1948 in Lexington, Kentucky he married Betty Jean Ross. Oscar was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was retired from Champion Paper after 33 years of service. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 41 years and New Hope, Kentucky Masonic Lodge #564 for 60 years. Oscar is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Bowman; three daughters, Wanda Zins, Lynda (Glenn) Nieman and Brenda (Thomas) Barnes; nine grandchildren, Clay Nieman, Rachel (Jason) Strong, Amanda (David) Weiss, Randall (Heather) Zins, Benjamin Nieman, Jessie (Carl) Cobb, Andrew Nieman, Taylor Nieman and Austin Barnes; five great grandchildren, Mia Ramey, Karsyn Ramey, Betsy Strong, Owen Weiss and Rebecca Zins; sister, Mattie Hooker; special niece Judy Bowman and special friends Ray and Wanda Reed. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Henry Bowman, Grace Creech, Carrie Burke, James Bowman, Nettie Robinson, Myrtle Wallace, John T. Bowman and Arlene Lagedrost and two granddaughters, Camille Rinck and Kayleigh Nieman. The family suggests contributions be made in his memory to the Immanuel Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1770 Eaton Rd, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
