Phyllis A. DiStaola

She was born in North Royalton, Ohio on August 15, 1937 to Arthur T. and Bertha (Tecl) Koepke. Phyllis earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Miami University. She married Mike DiStaola on November 18, 1961 in Hamilton, Ohio. He passed away on April 12, 2016. Phyllis worked as a teacher for Hamilton City Schools for many years before retiring in 1996. She was very active at Berkeley Square Retirement Community, and she was the past president of both the Women’s Italian American Society and AAUW. In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed gardening, reading, and golfing. She loved spending time with her family. Phyllis is survived by her children Mike A. DiStaola Jr., Christine DiStaola, MaryBeth (Martin) Miller; grandchildren Lance, Will, Elizabeth; and brother Art Koepke. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Fred Koepke and Chad Koepke, and her parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 10am to 11am at the Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow on Wednesday at the funeral home at 11am. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati 4623 Wesley Avenue, Suite A Cincinnati, Ohio 45212. The family would like to thank Dr. Paras S. Patel, Dr. Deborah A. Hauger, and especially the caring staff at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield for taking such excellent care of Phyllis.
