

Robert L. “Bob” States, age 84 of Barbeau, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 13, 1931 at the Blake family farm near Oldenburg, Indiana, the son of the late Herman and Ora (Blake) States. On February 28, 1970, Bob married his wife of over 46 years, Carolyn Ann Achor, in Dayton, Ohio. He served the Hamilton area as a barber for a number of years, worked as an engineer and fireman for the Conrail Railroad, and eventually moved to Michigan where he owned and operated a fishing resort, States-side Resort; he also served as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a past member of the St. Mary’s River Sportsman’s Club, and a member of the Sault Wesleyan Church. Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Linda (Gregory) Picur; son, Robert; granddaughter, Lora Picur; grandson, Robert Friedman; and brother, James (Dolly) States. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; his parents; and his brother, Lyman States. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on July 5, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Dale French officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery.
