

Age 79, of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on October 1, 1932, the son of Marlin and Vera (Klingel) Reist. On October 26, 1957, in Hamilton, Tom married his wife of over 54 years, Marcia J. Sullivan. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War and played on the US Atlantic Fleet Tennis Team. Tom worked at Champion Papers for 44 years with 22 years in the Calendar Room and 22 years in Production Control as a Senior Planner retiring in 1993. He then worked at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home for 17 years. Tennis was Tom’s life passion. At the age of 16 he was the Junior City Tennis Champion. He also received the Leeds Bronson Award and the Bill Edmunds Best Sportsman Award. Tom coached the West Side Dodgers for 12 years, enjoyed boating, and he was active in the Hamilton Tennis Association and Tournament Director. Tom is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Marcia; sons, Mark (Dianne) Reist, Michael (Kim) Reist and Martin (Annie) Reist; grandchildren Kayla, Kyle, Riley, Parker, Luke, Mark, Spencer, Mallory and Mia; four brothers and one sister, James Reist, Betty Murray Yordy, Bill Reist, Vernon (Jug) Reist and Dan Reist; caring nieces and nephews, Carol, Glenn, Jimmy, Dale, Leslie, Lisa, Jeff, Matt, Pete, Steve, Susan, Shari, Pam, Greg, Jill, Kevin, Bryan, Scott, Sarah, Norm, Travis,Anva and Ryan; sisters-in-law, Michaele Grevey and Dawn Sullivan; and brother-in-law, Barry Sullivan. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Vera; father, Marlin; sister-in-law, Colleen Reist; special niece, Cynthia Wertz; special nephew, Gary Reist. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 10am. on Friday, May 18, 2012, with Rev. Grant M. Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
