Virginia Myrtle Adkins

Adkins, Virginia M., age 94, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 at Emerald Court in Anaheim, California. She was born April 9, 1930 in Corbin, Kentucky to Nannie Marie and George C. Shelby. Virginia loved all of her family, traveling by car, train or bus, gardening and canning what was grown in the garden, cooking, playing rummy with the family, doing puzzles even those larger ones, knitting, reading Christian books especially her King James Bible, served as the president of the ladies fellowship at Northbrook Baptist church, being called grandma by all the kids on her street who would come and say hi to her and get a popsickle or some treat.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph L. Adkins; sisters, Wanda Quashat, Mary Miller; brothers, Clarence Shelby (Edna), James Shelby.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. Cantwell (Gene); sons, Joseph W. Adkins (Velda), Byron L. Adkins (Martha); grandchildren, Kevin J.R. Clark (Marcella), Kari A. Otts, Joseph W. Adkins II; six great-grandchildren; sister, Cleo “Ann” Antonovich. She will be loved and cherished by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 10:00 am until Services at 11:00am at the Southland Baptist Church, 2485 Springdale Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
