Wade W. Oliver, age 92, long-time resident of Fairfield Township, passed Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Hospice of Hamilton. Born in Cincinnati on January 24, 1922 he was the first-born child of Lehroy Joseph and Marcella (Scharf) Oliver. Wade graduated from Greenhills High School in 1940, worked at the Cincinnati Milling Machine Company and attended evening college for several years. Beginning early November 1943 through early December 1945 he proudly served his country during World War II as a Machinist Mate First Class aboard the DE-800 Jack W. Wilke. After the war he returned to Cincinnati Milling Machine for many years, then sought employment at GE and worked in various positions at GE Aircraft Engines for 36 years, retiring in 1987.Wade was a quiet, very private man. He was a devoted husband and father. His children looked upon him as their father, best friend, mentor and role model. He was completely content staying at home, reading avidly, watching the History channel or the Cincinnati Reds on TV, talking baseball and/or his Navy experience endlessly whenever anyone was interested. He enjoyed all kinds of music and expressed it at various times during his life playing the alto saxophone, the piano and organ. He will be dearly missed by all of us who cherished him.
