Alojz Grguric

After a courageous battle with cancer, in his 73rd year, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Alojz Grguric, on Friday, June 3, 2011 with his wife Marica by his side on the day of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Alojz will be greatly missed by sons, Alex (Marianne), John (Vicky) and Joey (Isabelle). Much loved “Deda Grmar” to Lillian, Steven, David, Nicholas, Julianna, Anthony, Maya and Olivia. Predeceased by his sisters Anna and Nevenka and brother Josip. Nephew to Zlata and Imbro Podrebarac. Uncle to Mary Jurkas, Goldie Saric, Cathy Mezzalira, Zdravko Palijas, Marica Krajnovic and their families. Brother-in-law of Ivo Persin. Brother-in-law to Anica and Alojz Podrebarac and family; and Ljubica and Ivan (predeceased) Cackovic and family. Alojz leaves behind many cousins and friends in Canada, USA and Croatia. Alojz was a proud retiree of Dofasco and long-time member of Klub Karlovac. Many thanks to Dad’s caregivers for their compassion and kindness, in particular nurse Kerry Ann. The family will receive friends at the MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Sunday, June 5th from 6-9 p.m. with Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m on Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday, June 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Croatian Church on Tuesday, June 7th at 9:30 a.m. Burial to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington. If desired, donations to the Zupa Uznesenja B.D. Marije Zakanje, Holy Cross Croatian Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
