Peacefully, with her children by her side, Gizela "Audrey" Horvath went to dance once again with her husband Michael. Audrey lived a wonderful life for more than 92 years. Friends were shocked to learn of her impending end because she always had so much life in her. She always smiled and laughed and brought sunshine to those she met. A 60-year member of St. Stan's Catholic Women's League, five-times past-president of the CWL, the first CWL Woman of the Year in 1959. Audrey was the originator of the Cabbage Roll Festival. She was active in church activities and a lector and Minister of Communion. Audrey enjoyed the fellowship of St. Eugene's Euchre Club where she and her hearty laugh will be missed. A Blue Jays and Tiger Cats fan, an avid gardener, an amazing cook and baker; her walnut torte was legendary! Her kitchen welcomed friends always. Audrey's smiles and laughs were served up as standard fare. She lit up the room. Audrey is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Michael. And, by her twin sister Rose Matysik, parents Helen and Nicholas Holowaty. She is survived by her loving and grateful children: Kathy, Yarko (Mary) and Helen. Abundantly loved Babcie to her grandchildren Julia Violet and Eden Griffin and Nicholas and Alexis Horvath. Special thanks to the staff of Hamilton General's 4 West, you are very kind. A gathering filled with laughter and memories will be held on Friday, February 26, at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Prayers at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
