

Audrey Rose Howells(nee Preston) With family by her side, Audrey passed away peacefully at Idlewyld Manor in her 92 year. Loving wife of 44 years to the late Gwyn Howells (1988). Cherished mother ofBronwen Quick (John), David (Lorraine) and Douglas (Annamaria). Devoted grandmother to Jennifer Zimmerman (Paul), Julie Zimmerman (Brett), Ian Howells (Jenn), Marnie Howells (Eric) and Stephanie Shipton (Scott). She will also be fondly remembered by her five great grand-children. Audrey was the daughter of Rose and John (Alex) Preston and was predeceased by her brother Len (1982) and sister Barbara Brown (1990). She is survived by her loving brother Bruce Preston (Irene) and dear sister-in-law Betty Byers (Gerry). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mom was so proud that at the age of 45 she graduated from the Hamilton & District School of Nursing and then began her nursing career at Chedoke Hospital. Audrey was an artistic person who had many hobbies and interests over the years. These included cake decorating, decoupage, knitting and playing cards with the girls and the “euchre gang”. She was also an accomplished pianist. Audrey was a spiritual person who worshipped at Christ’s Church Cathedral for many years and forged many strong friendships. Mom was a kind, caring and giving person, one who always carried herself with grace and dignity. Special thanks to the staff at Idlewyld Manor for their care and compassion. Her family will receive friends for a memorial visitationat the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held with a memorial service on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
