Barbara Nan Wheaton (Smith)

It is with a heavy heart and a deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Barbara Nan Wheaton (Smith). Barb passed away peacefully at the Toronto General Hospital on October 31st, 2022, with her loving daughter and family by her side.

Barb loved her family and friends very much. She enjoyed having family over for home cooked meals during the holidays and special occasions. Her face would always light up sharing family memories with her grandchildren.

Barb had an amazing career in catering, but when she became a crossing guard for the school boards, she finally found true happiness in her career. She would tell her family stories of all the amazing kids she would cross, and the bonds that were created with the students and their parents. It was in these moments you truly saw her live.

She is survived by her daughter Kelli Cooper and Son-in-Law Cecil, son Rory Northrup; grandchildren, Lucas, Alexandra, Ethan, and Kendra; great granddaughter Sophia; brothers and spouses Doug (Deb), Jeff (Sharon) and Colin (Kim); sisters Jan (Jim) and Marsha as well as her mother-in-law Ann; her many nieces and nephews; the Wheaton family, and her extended families: the Northrups’ and the Smiths’; and last but not least, her loving cat Emma.

Barb will be sadly missed by everyone she touched.
