Bernadetta Ligaj

August 7, 1933 – July 20, 2025

It is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernadette, surrounded by her loving daughter and grandson, on Sunday, July 20 at the age of 91.

She is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband Stanislaw. Loving mother of Teresa Kwasnik (Jerry), Stan Ligaj, and Joe Ligaj. Devoted Babcia of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her deeply. Will be sadly missed by her sister in Poland, Marynia as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Bernadette was born in Poland, and at the age of 41 decided to bring her family to start a new life in Canada, eventually settling in Hamilton, ON. A true family woman, she will always be known for her famous pierogies, meatballs and paczki, never allowing anyone to leave with an empty stomach. We will miss her, in small ways, in big ways, always.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 5-8 PM at Markey Dermody Funeral Home. 1774 King Street E., Hamilton. Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 8 St. Anne Street, Hamilton. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
