Bob was a beloved husband to, and is survived by, Sharon (Bunnie) for 60 years. He was the loving father to Wendy (John) and Brett (Jamie). Cherished Papa to Matthew, Scott, Bayley, Trenton and Brock. Bob is survived by his brothers Lorne (Joyce) and Les and predeceased by his sister Norma.
Bob was a long term employee of 42 years at the Hamilton Spectator and owned 3 successful video stores. Anyone who knew Bob knew he was extremely generous and was a huge animal lover, especially to the birds and squirrels he fed daily. He loved to participate in his children’s sports from coaching his daughter’s fastball team, to umpiring the Ancaster Ladies 3-Pitch league on diamond 1. He and Bunnie enjoyed wintering in Myrtle Beach for many years while his kids and grandkids joined on March breaks.
Bob was involved in many hobbies throughout his life: horse ownership, training and racing and multiple sports leagues such as darts, bowling and horseshoes. He loved to vacation, especially cruising. His daughter & son-in-law were so happy to be together with him on his final one.
Bob fought a good fight but lost the battle and he will be greatly missed. Our family extends much gratitude to the various doctors and nurses on the 6th floor GI and 4th floor CCU at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory can be made to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
Family and friends are invited to a drop-in Celebration of Life/Reception Sunday July 25th, from 2-6 pm at Cresmount Funeral Home. Guests are reminded that there will be a limited capacity and social distancing and face coverings is required.
