He was a great paramedic and funny guy. I was a hamilton firefighter and worked with Brent  at many calls. He was a class act.

My deepest condolences to Brent’s family.  I had the privilege to have met and worked along side of Brent as an Emergency Room nurse in the early days of the growth of the Hamilton Paramedic program. Brent could lighten up the mood of an often overwhelmed emergency department within minutes of sailing through the doors. He had a smile as long as the day to accompany his always upbeat and humour filled personality. People mattered to Brent and he made you feel this when you interacted with him. I shall remember him fondly and wish him Godspeed. 😢🙏🏻

My deepest condolences in Brent’s passing. 
I just read the article and although I knew  Brent had been in the battle  I didn’t know he had  lost the fight. 
I knew Brent through Lori and Lisa, as we went to school together, but I’d also bump into him at the hospital or at a Florida Razors show. He was always so full of life and happy . 
Judging by the article he was incredibly smart and driven to make the health care system it’s absolute best for the community. 
It truly captures the love he had for his work.

Brent was a mentor and significantly influenced my progression in the Paramedic field. He gave me a chance as an educator which supported me on the trajectory of my career. I am just one of MANY people Brent influenced professionally and personally. His contribution to the Base Hospital system and the progression of Paramedicine is still evident today. i knew Brent for many years in my capacity  as a Medic, EMS Manager & Base Hospital Director. I was always impressed by his intellect, keen knowledge of EMS systems, and sense of humour.  In his latter days he provided me with inspiration and strength with regards to my own health struggles. I believe when we exit this earthly  plane we move on to a better place.  Such a place will only be enhanced by Brent's presence.  Rest easy on the wings of eternity.

I just learned of Brent’s passing this evening - late Thursday.  What a huge loss. I worked with Brent at the city of Hamilton when he was our paramedic chief. What a kind and gentle soul. A lifelong learner.  So very sad. Sending my thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones.

These are words that I think best exemplified Brent. As a neighbour for the last decade, I got to see firsthand how much Brent enjoyed and yearned for life. I learned of his strong commitment to his family/friends and the wonderful job he did assisting those in the Hamilton community. I can remember the countless times he was jogging back from a run, or when he would wake up at the break of dawn to cycle to work. Brent was an inspiration to us all in how he fought so hard through the fire of this terrible illness. In my mind, I can still see him with trekking poles in his hands with his wonderful Angela right by his side. 

To all Brent’s family and friends,

Brent was my mentor and preceptor many years ago with Superior Ambulance (1986) Ltd. Brent took on the challenge of having me as a partner, teaching/instructing, as I tackled the ALS program he                 co-ordinated with M.U.M.C. in 1992.  He was always working on some study review or a project.  With my success, now he had another ALS provider to help fill the shifts at Chedoke. 
Brent brought a bright light into the lives of all who met or worked with him.  Though he is gone, that light still remains.   I’ll always remember/appreciate his encouraging words, optimism and positive outlook.

I am so sorry to hear of Brent’s passing. He was a leader in Ontario’s EMS system for many years. Brent was a strong advocate for ambulance services and base hospitals, and we had great fun working together when I was at the Ministry of Health. He was instrumental in establishing many of the organizational pillars of our system. Brent had a unique blend of optimism and determination and he always provided an example for others to follow. We spoke often over the past few years and he was a beacon of courage and strength. He will be greatly missed.

Although we have never met, we may have crossed paths at different work functions, I worked with Brent in the early days of his career as Chief of Hamilton EMS. I admired his dedication, his passion and determination in bettering the service and the profession as a whole. I was younger in my career, stepping up and eventually becoming the Chief of Essex Windsor EMS. I put Brent's traits to good use in the service I oversaw. I retired in February this year. I have also had the unfortunate experience of losing a loved one to cancer and my wife to COPD. I can say I feel for your current experience but you must  know that you are so fortunate to have so much support and love around you. Brent touched so many and those touches will reach out to you. Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Brent and know he lead a very cherished life and made the world a little bit better.

He was a constant figure of support and motivation for his colleagues, unwavering in his pursuit of innovation and positive change. We have seen so many positive changes for tissue donation in Ontario implemented because of Brent and that is an important legacy. I owe him much for the career opportunities and trust he gave me. I worked with Brent at TGLN. Although we didn't work in the same department, every time I visited the head office, Brent had a kind word and asked me about something he remembered from our last conversation. I was always happy to see Brent. He has been, and will be missed.

My condolences to the Browett Family. I met Brent a Conestoga College taking our Ambulance and Emergency Care Course. We connected right away, he had an attic apartment, I was renting a room close to school/hospital. Brent suggested we get an apartment together, the rest was history for the rest of the school year. We not only shared an apartment together we did many things together.. took our CPR instructors together, entered the Ontario Ambulance Competition, huge ‘thank you’ to Superior Ambulance Service, Hamilton for loaning us their equipment to compete in 2 scenarios. Went to each other’s wedding.. I entertained as ‘Bandaid the Clown’ for his kids Birthday.. Sending big hugs to the whole Browett Family

I first met Brent when I was Assistant Coordinator for the Oshawa General Hospital. I spent a day riding with him and his crews. We shared ideas and suggestions and he was always trying to get me to do shifts at Chedoke McMaster but it was too far to commute for me. Brent was one of the bright lights in Ontario EMS and that light has been dimmed far too early. 
To his family and friends, Brent was one of the good guys and although he will never be replaced neither will he be forgotten.
