A lifetime of adventures started in Durban, South Africa, and continued in Kenya, London and Canada where he settled in 1964 and started his family. After moving them all to Durban for a number of years, he then spent the majority of his life between Vancouver Island and Durban,S.A. to ensure he could always be by the ocean.
Laff had a passion for crayfishing, surfing, jazz music, painting and cooking …. especially curries!
His final years were spent in Ontario, to be close to his family: Erica, Steve and Jessica Fagan, Nancy Heaslip, Tom and Michelle Heaslip and his many grandchildren.
Laff taught his kids to seek out adventure and instilled a sense of curiosity and a love of rule-bending wherever possible! He saw the humour in every situation, and his quick wit made everyone smile and laugh, right up to the minutes before his passing. One of a kind, ‘Dad, Grandpa, Laff, Brian’ will be incredibly missed.
A special thanks to the staff of Willowgrove LTC who treated him with dignity, kindness and friendship while helping him stay laughing his last years.
“Your time on Earth is limited. Don’t try to age with grace. Age with mischief, audacity and a good story to tell.”
