Brian was born in Hamilton in 1956 and raised in the North End by his father Freddy and mother Lillian, alongside his brothers and sisters.
Brian met the love of his life Barbara in the West End, and the two of them married in 1984. Three years later, they welcomed their only child, Alan.
Brian worked his early years at Consumers Glass, working the bottling line where he met a lot of his good friends. After an unfortunate plant closure, Brian then became a welder, building things like construction cranes and even signs for Disney parks. He was proud of the quality work he produced every day and always worked hard perfecting his craft.
Brian enjoyed being out with his friends and experiencing life to the fullest. He never turned down an opportunity to go out on the town and share a beer with friends and coworkers alike. He always found himself surrounded with good people and good times. He enjoyed playing softball every summer, hosting the team and their families for after game pool parties to celebrate team wins. As his son got older, Brian was involved in many late-night poker games, always willing to share stories and experiences with Alan and his friends. "A-Pop" as everyone called him was never afraid to go all in for excitement (even with Ace-Deuce) and that's always how he lived his life. Brian loved all animals, every neighbourhood dog and cat loved to see him on their walks because they knew a cookie would soon follow. He may have been rough on the outside, but he had a kindness inside for the things he cared about that people rarely got to see.
Cherished father of Alan (Danielle), a loving brother to Sharon and Anna. Predeceased by his father Freddy, mother Lillian, as well as his two brothers Albert and Raymond. He will be missed by his remaining family and friends.
Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), Hamilton on Saturday January 3, 2026 from 3-6pm. Since Brian loved cats, in lieu of flowers, donations to Hearts To Homes is greatly appreciated:
