Brone Banevicius

1923-2015 - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their dear mother, Brone, on July 2, 2015 peacefully at home in Hamilton. Brone is predeceased by her husband, Jonas, and sister, Helena Richters (Andrejs). She is survived by her sisters, Anastasia Kairiss (Albins, deceased) and Konstance Skidra (Viesturs), her three children, Sigita Roy (Philip), Peter (Louisa) and Irena. Brone was also the proud, loving grandmother of Laura (betrothed to Kyle Pastor), Alexandra and Jonas. Brone was born in Sakstagals, Latvia and emigrated after WWII to Canada with her parents, Tekla and Kazimirs Bekers, and her three sisters, settling in Hamilton where she met and married Jonas where they lived and raised their three children. Brone will be sadly missed by all. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and a gentle, kind friend to all who knew her. The family would like to express a special gratitude to Dr. Jean Mullens and nurses Melissa and Laura for their special care, support and friendship. Funeral arrangements have been made with CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME 322 Fennell Avenue East and respects can be paid on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. Prayers at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church (50 Brucedale Avenue East) on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. with an interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
