She passed peacefully in her sleep at St. Peter’s Hospital, in her 72nd year, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Carol was predeceased by her husband Bryan Brown, by her parents Petrus and Wilhelmina Van Ryssel and by her brother Peter Van Ryssel. She leaves behind her beloved daughters; Laurie, Melissa (Ed) and Heather (Ryan). An adored grandmother, she will be missed by her six
grandchildren; Cody, Tyler, Anthony, Trysta, Brianne and Hudson. She will be remembered by her loving and supportive brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, as well as by many amazing friends.
Carol was the type of person who was always there for you, whenever you needed her. She loved spending time with her family and friends and could often be found playing (and frequently winning) at a multitude of board and card games. An avid reader, a dedicated follower of the news and quite knowledgeable about financial matters, Carol was a wealth of information. She leaves behind a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter’s Hospital or to the Cancer Assistance Program, whose employees and volunteers demonstrated exemplary care and compassion during her time with them. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Saturday, October 29t from 2pm until time of service at 3pm in the chapel.
