Born on May 2, 1943, Caroline was the beloved daughter of Bertha and Robert Silvea, both predeceased. She was one of 15 children and is survived by five of her siblings, with whom she shared lifelong bonds of love, laughter, and strength.
Caroline was the proud and devoted mother of three children—her greatest joy and purpose in life David Snowdon (Evangeline), Lynn Hyde (Maurice) (née Snowdon) and Angela Henwood (Jermaine Chandler) (née Snowdon).
From the moment they were born, her children became the center of her world. She raised them with unwavering love, fierce dedication, and the quiet wisdom that only a strong, resilient mother can offer. As the matriarch of a growing family, Caroline set the tone—warmth, generosity, acceptance, and a touch of humour that let everyone know they were loved.
After relocating to Hamilton, Ontario, while her children were still young, Caroline built a life anchored in family, support, and love. Her home was a place where you were always welcomed, and many found themselves lovingly included in her extended circle. She was “Mom” to many, offering guidance, support, and comfort to all who needed it.
Caroline’s legacy not only lives on through her children, it lives on through her cherished grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and endless joy: Asia, Noah, Sasha (David), Ashley, Marcel, Olivia (Lynn), Jermayne and Jasmyn (Angela).
And through the next generation, who were a joyous and cherished part of her life, she experienced even more love. They affectionately knew her as Gigi- Jahziah and Zaylen (Jasmyn), Julius and Aurora (Ashley), Jailah, Jahzara, Julianna, Janaysia, and Jovanni (Jermayne)
Caroline was also an aunt to many, a role she embraced with the same love, humour, and generosity she offered her own children. She supported them, guided them, laughed with them, and loved them as if they were her own. To many of them, she was a second mother, a steady presence, a safe place, and a source of wisdom and warmth. The love she poured into her nieces and nephews will continue to live on in their stories, their memories, and the lives they lead.
She will also be remembered for her famous homemade fudge—a treasured family recipe she perfected as a young girl. Though the recipe lives on and our family has worked hard to perfect it, it has never been quite as good as Mom’s. For decades, her fudge was more than a sweet treat; it was a symbol of her warmth, her creativity, and the joy she brought to others. She made sure the recipe would be passed through generations so that her legacy—one of love, generosity, and simple, sweet moments—continues to bring joy to all of us.
Caroline also shared her heart through song. She had a voice many lovingly described as the voice of an angel—soft, warm, and full of soul. She had a song for everything, and music was woven into her everyday life. She especially loved singing with her children, filling their home with melodies that brought comfort, laughter, and peace. Her songs were an extension of her spirit, and those blessed to hear her sing will forever carry the sound of her angelic voice in their hearts.
A pillar of strength, compassion, and resilience, Caroline fought courageously until the very end. Her love shaped generations, her kindness touched countless lives, and her spirit will live on in every story, every memory, and every heart she helped to raise.
Caroline now returns to the loving embrace of her Creator, reunited with her parents, her departed siblings, her precious son James, and her granddaughter, Tinysha Lynn (Angela), both taken far too soon. Surrounded by their love, she was surely welcomed home with open arms.
Caroline Louise Snowdon Loved by many. Missed beyond words. Forever remembered.
