Peacefully with her family at her side, in her 100th year, Phyllis has been reunited with her husband Frank Thomas Wells (1987) whom she married in 1940. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Jean Back (nee Devine), brothers Fred Back (1971) and Howard Back (1976) and sister Dorothy Wall (nee Back) (2006). Survived by sisters-in-law Ruby Savage and Eileen Back. Loving Mother of Donna Mulder (George), Gordon Wells (Susan) and Shirley D’Ostilio (Rudy). Proud Grandma to five Grandchildren and their spouses, Great Grandma to six great grandchildren, as well as Auntie Phyllis to many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was born in Hamilton, Ontario where she spent her entire life. She worked at the Otis before becoming a stay at home Mom. She was a seamstress who sewed clothes for her family and in later years kept clothing in good repair at a local costume rental store. She was a dedicated member of Livingston United Church where she helped out in the Sunday school and at Explorer Camp and became a UCW Life Member. Livingston closed in 1999 and Phyllis then became a member at Delta United Church. In 2000 she moved to the Assisted Living Floor of First Place where she lived until her move to Macassa Lodge in 2014 at the age of 98. The family would like to thank all the caregivers who helped Mom through the different stages of her life and also her “phone buddy” Colleen Earl from Delta United Church who faithfully called her every week to keep in touch. Even when her short term memory began to fail, she was still her happy, smiling, joking, self that endeared her to all who knew her. She will always be remembered for that cute little giggle that made everyone smile. Visitation will take place at Marlatt Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 615 Main Street East (East of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton, Ontario on Monday February 15, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. Chapel service will take place Tuesday February 16, 2016 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a donation to Delta United Church, 47 Ottawa Street South, Hamilton, Ontario, L8K 2C9 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
