

Passed away suddenly, Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the age of 76 surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Hughes, she always greeted the day and everyone with a warm smile and a kind thought. She worked tirelessly to help others through her work with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Lioness club and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary to name a few. Claudette work for 30 years at CIBC before retiring to work at H+R Block for the next 7 and continued to work in the financial industry for several years after that.
Born and raised in the Tri-Town/Virginiatown area in Northern Ontario, Claudette enjoyed spending time with friends and was an avid curler travelling around with her teams to various bonspiels. She moved to the community of Manitouwadge and spent many wonderful years there before moving south with her husband and son George. She often thought of the fond memories she had of living in the north. She would always say, “You can take the girl out of the north but you can not take the north out of the girl.”
Claudette is survived by her children Michael (Wendy), Cathi Breault (Robert), Jamie (Kris) and George. Proud grandmother of Tim, Rachel (Sean), Ben (Allie), Beth-Ann, Scott, Andrea, Maia (Bryan), Greg, Jupiter and Nicki (Jeff) and great-grandmother of Xander, Tristan, Lyss and Grayson. Dear step-sister of Gregory Samuel (Gail). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Eliza Greer, brother Gregory (Jiggs) and wife Ida and sister Therza and husband Leon and by her granddaughter Kira.
The family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave East, Hamilton, Ontario on Friday September 10 from 5 to 8 pm. Service of remembrance will be held at Cresmount on Saturday September 11 starting at 2 pm by invite only to follow Covid limitation protocols.
