David Lloyd McDade

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dave at the age of 69. Beloved spouse of Sandy for 46 years. Loving father of Shane (Andrea) and Adam (May). Cherished grandpa of Zackery and Noah. Survived by his siblings Donald (Gail) and Cathy (Greg); his brother-in-law Bill (Eleanor); and his sisters-in-law Dorothy (Fred) and Linda (the late Fred). He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Josephine, and his siblings Tom (the late Betty), Bob (Andrea), Billy (Joyce), and Johnny. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Dave was an avid Ticats fan and a lifelong sports enthusiast who loved spending time fishing on his boat and going for long drives on his motorcycle. He was very social and always comical, he had a great sense of humour and a natural ability to make people laugh. He took great pride in his garden, spending countless hours caring for it, and was a true handyman—always busy building or fixing something. He worked as a contractor for many years before retiring after 20 years of dedicated service at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Visitation at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, on Friday, February 20 from 1 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow.
