Soulmate, best friend and spouse to Diana for 30 memorable filled years. Forevermore father to his beloved children Dawn (Jason) and Shane. Dawn and Dave shared a recent special moment of being baptized together. Adored grandpa to his cherished namesake grandson Locke.

David has stepped down from that train to be met by his beloved parents (predeceased) Clifford and Mary. His fun loving sense of brotherly humour will be missed by sisters Sharon and Colleen. Family stories and photos of days gone by will be remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Dave was the quintessential Hamilton born and raised kid. From his first job as a Hamilton Spectator delivery boy, playing shinny at Princess Point to coaching for the Kirkendall T-Ball division.

His life’s journey included driving truck to Distribution Manager for the iconic Stoney Creek Dairy, before retiring from the Transportation Logistics Group (Guelph) at Tim Hortons. Dave enjoyed people, hoping to leave all with a smile following a conversation or encounter.

Travel, sports, music, family, friends, story telling and “the great up north” were some of the best moments that made up a life enjoyed by Dave who always let you know how proud he was to be from Canada. Driving his 1968 Dodge Dart or his camper van, dancing at a summer’s night Blue Rodeo concert or playing chess with Locke are just some of the memories left for safe keeping.

A life-long devotee of “his” Montreal Canadiens, Dave treasured the game of hockey.

Skylar will miss her long walks and talks with her dog dad. Luke and Max are waiting to run with him again.

Our gratitude to all who have supported us in this difficult time with their kind words, thoughts, prayers and actions. Our sincere thanks to the nurses of the JCC and St. Peter’s Hospitals for their time and attention to our beloved Dave.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St., E., Hamilton on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5-9 pm.

Small Service to be held at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
