Edna Francis Forde

Edna Francis was born June 22, 1926 in Hamilton, Ontario to Bertha and James Brace the third of six children. She passed away on June 26, 2024 at Tansley Woods Nursing Home. Edna is predeceased by her parents, and brothers (James, Ellis and Jackie) and survived by her sisters Phyllis Tokos and Norma Simigian.

Edna married Billy Forde in 1945, but separated after seven years and divorced in 1969. Edna and George Jansen became partners for fourteen years until his death on May 15, 1991 from cancer. Edna will be buried beside George in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Edna had no children of her own, but enjoyed seeing and interacting with her many nieces and nephews. Instead, she always had a dog. Opal the Yorkie, then the many Shih Tzus, Hector, Shamron, and Buddy who she took on Red Cross visits to nursing homes.

Edna spent most of her life in Hamilton, Burlington area, but did work in New York, California, and Florida. Edna was a very strong, hardworking and industrious woman who in 1966 built a multi-clinician electrolysis clinic in Hamilton. She garnered the respect and approval of many local doctors. She downsized and moved the business to her home in Burlington.

Edna’s friendly personality and her love of travel and dancing filled her life with many adventures and friendships.

A celebration of Edna’s life will be held at Compass Point Church, 1500 Kerns Road, Burlington at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
