

Taken too soon, with his wife holding his hand, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018 at St Peter’s Hospital at the age of 66 years. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on May 4, 1951. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Marlene Ann Dilney (nee: Hood). Cherished son of Henry and Kay Dilney. Beloved brother of John Dilney (Barb) and the late Michael Dilney. Will be sadly missed by his aunts Barb, Janet, Mazie, Carol (Jack), Helen, Kay and Betty and uncles Monsignor Edward House and Lonnie (Mabel) and many cousins. He will always be treasured by his sister-in-laws Bertha, Phyllis, and Jeanette, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family and friends. Ed is predeceased by many aunts, uncles and grandparents. His two whippets Winston and Katie meant the world to him and they are sadly missing their dad. Edward has lived in Hamilton for most of his life. He was a dedicated employee of the Halton Catholic District School Board and member of CUPE Local 2888. Memorial mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1393 Cannon St E, Hamilton, at Kenilworth on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St E, Stoney Creek. A special thank you is extended to the staff at St Peter’s Hospital, West 3, for their compassion and care. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in Edward’s memory.
