She was a Great-Grandmother to Scarlett Evelyn and Quinn Wilson. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
Evelyn’s pride and joy were her children, and she was committed to encouraging and supporting their educational and career pursuits. She was the greatest cheerleader [“Something’s gotta be done!”] in the bleachers of many university football games. She encouraged our academic pursuits, realizing her own dreams through those of her children. She was an excellent cook and chose hospitality
service over the years to support her family. Keekishizawithee -she was always a hard worker. Music was her passion, and she loved playing her guitar and writing song lyrics. She attended and busked at many festivals in the region.
During her end-of-life journey, she won the hearts of many at Macassa Lodge. Many of the staff would call out her name as we walked the grounds with her and she would return all greetings with a big smile and a wave.
In spite of the many years she lived in Ontario, she always spoke of how life was ‘back-home’. From the beauty of the plains to the evergreen trees to the beautiful waterways of Lake Winnipeg and Dauphin River; part of her heart and spirit will always be there.
