It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary at Macassa Lodge on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Linda. Dear father of Chris (Kathy) and Corey. Cherished papa of Carter. Predeceased by his parents John and Audrey Long. Survived by his brothers Brian (Mary), Paul (Linda), Allan (Debbie) and sisters Annette Desrochers (Mike) and Christine Smith (Allen). Survived also by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Gary was a construction inspector with the City of Hamilton and Hamilton Wentworth Region for 30 years. After retiring, he pursued his many interests, wood working, jewelry designing and gardening. He was a perfectionist in all projects he undertook. Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Sunday, February 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave., on Monday, February 26th at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Donations to Neighbour to Neighbour Food Bank or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to all the P.S.W.'s who cared for Gary for the past 2 years, especially Dalton.
