With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gerald Herbert “Pete” Mueller on December 4 2023.
Pete was born on May 20 1936 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to loving parents Johann and Margaret (Fleman) Mueller. He met and married Beverly Enron Louise Brown and they lived in Medicine Hat where both of their sons were born. While the boys were still young they relocated to Hamilton ON, where Pete secured a job at Dofasco as a crane operator, and retired after 26 years of service.
Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking in his spare time. He also enjoyed travelling and RV camping. He was a loved spouse, father, brother, uncle and grandfather to his family. He lived in the same home for 57 years and became a grandfather and friend to many of the families in the neighborhood. He made lasting connections and impacted the lives of many while having his coffee on the front porch. He became the unofficial mayor of his neighborhood greeting all that passed by with many stopping for a quick chat.
Pete is predeceased by his parents Johann and Margaret, his siblings Kenneth, Velma, Gertrude, Ivan, Frieda, Emma, Erna and Jeanette. Surviving is his sister Evelyn of Medicine Hat, former spouse Beverly Mueller of Hamilton, his two sons Jerry (Luka) of Cloverdale BC, Gord (Dawn) of Hanwell NB, his four granddaughters Samantha and Sandra (Jerry) Devine and Devin (Gord) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Juravinski Hospital for their kindness and care. A special thank you to the neighborhood friends and their pets for stopping by and keeping an eye out for the honorary mayor of Brucedale.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity. A visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral home (322 Fennell Ave E, Hamilton) on Monday December 18 from 7-9 pm.
