Gretta is now reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years, George (2022), and will be dearly missed by her son David, daughter Lesley Delle Grazie (Pat), and her grandchildren, Alexandra (Ethan) and Max (Nellie). Predeceased by her parents David and Isabella Caddies. Survived by her brother-in-law Robert Dobbins (Ann) in Australia, and their family. Predeceased by her brother-in-law Ian Dobbins (Jean). She will be sadly missed by her many cousins, extended family, and friends in Scotland.
Gretta was born and raised in Cambuslang, Scotland on March 13, 1939, and immigrated to Canada in 1966 with her husband, mother, and small children, for a new and better life. She spent her working life at Sears, both at Centre Mall and Limeridge Mall, but spent her downtime on the golf course. She could be found playing regularly at Southbrook and Scenic Woods, and would gladly tell anyone about her four holes-in-one, and that time she beat George. Gretta was gregarious, creative, caring, and kind, and would literally talk to anyone, especially if she detected a Scots accent, and made many friends wherever she went. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten, by anyone whose life she touched.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their kind, loving and compassionate care given to Gretta in her final days. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennel Ave. E on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:30am. Donations to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
