I learned about your mother's passing yesterday. Our family grieves the passing of a kind and helpful person in the lives of our parents.

When my mother was alive, I appreciated the strong friendship she had with your mother. I remember once when my mother was struggling, your mother showed up at the door and said that people usually say things like, "Just give a call if you need something." Instead of just saying that she decided that she would just come. She then proceeded to listen, care for and be good company for my mother. That story sticks with me. To love your neighbour means to show up.

So very sorry to learn about Mrs Vanholst's passing. She was  a beloved longtime friend of my mother Joan VandenBurg . I still have the Afghan she made for me over 40 years years ago. She was a lovely lady.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Rita will live in our memory and we miss her.  We all know of her kindness and generosity.  A wonderful neighbour ready to share coffee and the matters of the day.  They were good times.
Rita, I know you are reading this, so, just to let you know, after all these years, I am still drinking coffee from the cup you gave me on my birthday many years ago.
We have pictures of the occasions we shared and we will fondly look at them with your memory of those times.
