Born in Guelph, Ontario, to Mary and Alex Bozsaki, Ida lived a life filled with love, adventure, and culinary delights. She met the love of her life, William Bota, with whom she shared an incredible 71 years of marriage.Ida was a woman of many talents and passions. She learned to drive before her parents and was known for her daily walks up and down the Hamilton escarpment stairs, conquering over 200 steps each way. An avid tennis player and golfer, she proudly achieved three holes-in-one during her lifetime - two during winters in Florida and a third back home - outshining her husband's single ace.
A gourmet cook, Ida's culinary skills were legendary. Her children's school lunches were the envy of their classmates, and as adults, they still talk about (and try to replicate) her chicken paprikash, cabbage rolls, and honey cake. She delighted in hosting dinner parties for friends and family. Ida's love for reading, particularly historical books, fueled her passion for travel. She and Bill were world travelers, embarking on yearly adventures to exotic destinations. However, Ida's greatest joy was her family. Her love for her children was so profound that on the first day of vacations with her husband, she would call home but inevitably end up in tears, handing the phone to Bill to finish the conversation.
Ida is survived by her husband William, children Gary (Jane), Allison (Gunter), and Cathy, grandchildren Alexander, Melissa, Erica, Scott, and David, and great-grandchildren Emily, James, Simon, and Autumn.
The family is grateful for the compassion and care of the many health care providers at the Idlewyld Manor over the past 5 years.
