It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ignaz Hamer at the age of 90. Loving husband and friend of Matilda for over 63 years. Cherished father of Anna (Frank) Banko and Liz (Steve) Matijasic. Adored grandpa to Natasha (Slavko) Grguric, Justin (Marina) Matijasic, Nicole (Brad) Cowie and Brandon (Tamara) Banko. Devoted Papa to Eliana, Maksim, Ivano and Mateo. He is predeceased by his parents Tomo and Margarita and siblings Ivo (Kata), Miska (Jela), Mica (Josko), Gusti (Rozika), Margarita (Pavao) and Frank. He is survived by his sisters Ljuba (late Gusti), Anika (Stevo), brother Vlado (Julika) and sister-in-law Pat (late Frank). He leaves behind his sister-in-law Zora Zver, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, Croatia, Germany and Austria. Ignaz was born in Medimurje, Croatia and came to Canada in 1953 where he met his loving wife in 1958 and created a beautiful family. He was an employee of J.I.Case for 30 years. In 1974, they pursued their dreams with the purchase of property in the Muskokas and over the years worked diligently and devoted all free time to the beautification of this property to make it what it is today. In 1988 this became their permanent home. He loved the outdoors and had a great passion for fishing, boating and swimming. He was always known for being a very social person and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved his music and you would always find him dancing along. Special thanks to Dr. Mitri and Nurse Wilma, 7th Floor St. Joseph’s Hospital, Juravinski Tower for their kindness and compassion.
