Our sincere condolences to Jackie's family.  Sadly I just received the information yesterday.  I knew Jackie for 16 years.  First as an incredibly dedicated, organized and amazing grade 3 teacher to our son John.  Then as an incredible math tutor to our son Ryan for two years.  We all looked forward to Jackie's weekly visits and Dutch chocolate treats at Christmas.  She was my colleague, my friend and advocate.  I loved viewing her photos of her adventures these past few years, she put everything into living life to the fullest.  She will be deeply missed.

We have many fond memories of the Buchanan Park days when our kids went to school together. Jackie's contagious laugh often resonated with everyone in the room. She was always full of joy and made everyone feel welcome.  Jackie's kindness and positive attitude will be missed by all who know her.

What can I say about Jackie?  There is just too much to share.  We worked together many years ago when I started my teaching career at Lake Avenue and then re-connected when we both came to work in the Special Education department.  We shared many great times, strategizing over difficult situations and like Cathie said she would challenge my thinking.  Lunches with Sue D when we all worked together, our dinners with Dolores and Sharon, SERCC conferences, drinks with our friends on the Autism team, and our many many Sassy Patrol nights with Tammy and Val and even Jared.  That is what I will miss the most, since she was the Sassiest!  Things will never be the same in our Spec Ed department.  I am having a hard time going back to the education centre since losing her.  I've lost not only a valued colleague, but truly one of my best friends.  Rest in peace sweet Jackie.   All my love Bill, Connor and Janelle.  xo 

I was so saddened to hear that Jackie had passed away. I knew Jackie as an amazing special education consultant for HWDSB. Jackie went above and beyond to support students, their families and the staff, always keeping the end goal in mind; what’s best for kids. She lived that message. As principal, I would call for advice and she was always there ready to listen, consult, clarify, challenge and strategize with me through many difficult situations. I knew I could count on Jackie to do anything she could to support the needs in my school. What a wonderful woman! She will be missed.

Jackie entered our lives 16 years ago when our daughters started junior kindergarten together. She was always such a positive influence in our daughter's life with the many play dates, birthday parties and sleepovers. We shared many moments supporting each other in raising our daughters. Jackie's remarkable gifts then extended to our son Sam. Without Jackie's support, words of wisdom and listening ear, Sam would not be where he is today. We feel blessed and grateful that Jackie touched our lives, her genuine, loving and kind hearted nature will be with us forever.

Our heartfelt condolences  to your family.   We first met Jackie as a beautiful happy outgoing 4 yr old and neighbour on Graycourt Dr.  Ancaster.  Our families shared some very good times together.  Thinking of  you at this difficult time.

Jackie has been my friend and colleague for many years.  We shared our passion for (and frustration with) le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge.   She didn't need social media to connect with people.  She did it with a smile, a laugh,   or a question about your kids.  She carried herself with a high degree of dignity, but with absolutely no arrogance.  She always took her work  seriously, without ever taking herself seriously.  Her humour was usually self-deprecating.  She was as tough as they come, but was not afraid to show vulnerability.  I have so many memories of Jackie, but I keep in my heart a very simple mental image.  Arriving in Grand Bend for a conference, I watched her get out of the car and immediately run towards the sun setting over Lake Huron across the sandy beach.   Without being able to see her face, or hear her voice, you could still detect Jackie's  joy of life.

I am deeply saddened and so very sorry to hear of your loss. You have all been in my thoughts these past few days. I have many fond memories of Jackie from growing up as a close friend to Connor in the Buchanan neighbourhood. As kids, Connor and I would often spend many hours playing road hockey and mini sticks over at the Trapp's family home. I remember many times coming in to the house after a long game of road hockey to find that Jackie had prepared us a snack to eat and a root beer to drink - my favourite! Jackie was always welcoming. She made me feel at home whenever I was visiting. I will always remember her warm smile and contagious laughter. She was a joyful person who filled the room with positive energy. I consider myself lucky to have known her and know that she will be dearly missed by many.

Jackie and I were classmates at Rousseau Public School in Ancaster in the '70's. Her kind heart, easy laugh and sense of play are so clear in my memory. That beautiful spirt comes through in every photo I have seen of her since. Sending compassion and deepest condolences to Jackie's treasured family, friends, colleagues and loved ones. You are all in my thoughts and in my heart. 

I had the privilege of working with Jackie for several years as a consultant.  Despite the busy workload she already had, she always took the time to help me out as I started the role.  I was always in admiration of her tireless work and advocacy for all students.  I feel so fortunate that our paths crossed as she became much more than a colleague but a  friend.  I loved her great laugh and hugs.  My thoughts are with all of her family and friends at this time.  May the many wonderful memories of Jackie shared here be of some comfort to you at this difficult time.  

My life has been intertwined with Jackie for 50 years.  Starting in kindergarten, continuing through high school, waitressing at Loyal George's, having fun with HPYA, going through marriage, babies and teenagers, traveling, cottaging, having catch-up breakfasts and working for HWDSB, I feel like Jackie and I have shared every significant and insignificant moment of our lives.  Jackie has been the best of best friends:  always ready to share a laugh, a memory from our youth or a valued piece of advice about family, kids or teaching.  Jackie never failed to give loving support to me, my children and my family.  Any new thing I reported on was generously celebrated by Jackie if it was good news; any admission to her of my mistakes and failings was accepted with unconditional empathy and understanding.  It sound like a cliche from the movies, but Jackie's passing has quite simply left a massive hole in my life.  At the same time, as I reflect, I am feeling so amazed and grateful to have had this unique chance in life to have such a lifelong friend in Jackie.  It is a gift that not everyone is lucky to have.

Memories of Jackie include many Moeller family parties , holidays, and of course,  Algonquin Park...Jackie was always smiling, welcoming , and the bright spot in any room she happened to be in at the time. She will be missed by many, and she will also leave many wonderful memories behind for her family, and friends. Peter and I send prayers of comfort and healing 

Jackie and I grew up across the street from one another and were best friends from a young age. Special memories include numerous sleep overs, making forts and exploring the beautiful woods and orchard behind Jackie's house, playing dress ups, riding our bikes and swimming in her pool. We loved to put on 'plays' for anyone in the neighborhood that we could convince to come and  that could afford our 10 cent entry fee! Our families were close and enjoyed many fun get togethers at each other's homes. 
I will always remember Jackie as easy to get along with, kind and usually very happy. We lost touch somewhere along the way, but ran into one another occasionally at teacher in-services and most recently at the HWETL retirement event, when I was retiring. On those occasions I noticed how Jackie still possessed the positive characteristics that she had as a child. I never met her children, but can imagine what a wonderful mom she would have been. I know she will be greatly missed. 

While I connected with Jackie the most through social media, I've had the pleasure of listening to her speak a number of times. She was incredibly passionate about the value of UDL, and was all about supporting kids and ensuring that they met with success. I loved and appreciated her passion for teaching and students, and count myself lucky to have learned from her. She's touched the lives of many educators, children, and families. You will be missed!

Jackie was a friend and a colleague, and we shared many memories over more than 20 years. She was a champion of her students, both in the classroom and as a special education consultant at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. She was passionate about helping these students to lead better lives in every way possible and would often connect with me to problem solve for them on a regular basis, always  insisting we could find a way to help them. I especially remember when Jackie had a student in her grade 3 class who had selective mutism. Jackie was determined to help the girl feel safe in her classroom and arranged to meet with the student “accidentally” in the parking lot before she was to attend the class. Then she “accidentally” ran into her at another venue as well. Jackie also created a number of strategies to make the girl feel comfortable enough to speak to her and was ultimately successful in her efforts. When I visited the classroom several months later, the girl spoke to me, something that had not happened in a classroom situation before. That is only one story of the many where Jackie used her special gifts to make a difference in the lives of students, there are many more.  As a friend, Jackie was warm, always enthusiastic and had a laugh that would make you smile with its exuberance. I will miss her joyfullness and loving way, and I am sure  others who knew her feel much the same as she was often a candle within the darkness for many.
