Before I left to travel I used to visit papa and play him YouTube videos of German aircraft! He would marvel at the sound of some of these planes.

Loved my uncle John, the stories of when  he and my mom lived on the farm , his hockey passion, his joke telling and just spending time with the family! We will miss him

Although I didn’t know John well, I certainly remember him making me feel welcome whenever I saw him. It makes me smile to remember his kind smile. Praying for joy for you all as you remember this special man. 

I remember when I was a child Uncle John took me for a walk in the woods and told me about fairies and other fantastical creatures that lived in the forest. It really was so magical and I appreciate him expanding my imagination! I also remember the animal pancakes he would make when I was little, he always had a way of making ordinary things more fun! Uncle John will be dearly missed! I will always treasure the memories of him coming to my sports games as a child. I remember him being very excited and passionate when talking about sports to me. I have such fond memories of Uncle John and Auntie I driving me around in their pick up truck. You will be missed Uncle John! Go Jays!

We were so sorry to see that John has passed. We have so many fond memories of being with him and also with Iris. I still remember the first day I met him when he blew past me on his skates at Princess Point. We are grateful for the time he spent coaching the boys and Brandon and Anthony will always remember him as a special person. He will always be in our hearts and we will always remember how kind John was to us.  Our sincere sympathy and condolences Tony, Antoinette, Brandon and Anthony.


Both Uncle John & Auntie "I" were quick to welcome me into their family when I first started dating Brenda.  His kindness, unassuming attitude and sports stories will never be forgotten.  Christmas was especially a fun time as he took great joy in watching our three children enjoy the magic of the season as he himself was a kid at heart.  Gone but not forgotten.  Rest in peace! This quote by William Butler Yeats reminds me of John.  I and my family was blessed to have such a friend as John in our lives.  He knew no strangers, made everyone at ease with his wit an engaging conversations, he was unforgettable !!!



 
     

Uncle John  will be greatly missed by myself, Joel and our children. I remember him coming to our house to meet Emmy as a newborn and the bright smile on his face.  Uncle John danced the night away at our wedding and didn't stop smiling! I remember many pool visits, sitting with Uncle John and he would always thoughtfully ask me,  how I was doing. We are thankful to have had you in our lives. We love and will miss you. 

In the last few years papa had taken great joy in sharing memories of his time flying. Often I would sit with him and he would recount stories of going to the hanger as a young boy, having dreams of being a pilot one day. He still had that sparkle in his eye right up until his final days, and his dream was for me to take flying lessons. I think all of us could use a little bit of John in us - the dreamer, the boy who tells tall tales and knows how to remember the good in life. Love you papa, may your soul soar in the skies!
