Psalm 62: 1 The Lord called home his faithful servant John Drost on November 26, 2013 after a brief hospitalization at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton. John will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan, and daughters Nancy (Siapha) and Judith (Craig). Beloved “Opa” to John and Abigail in Hamilton and Grandpa to Edward, Grace and Mary Ann in Ghana. John will be missed by his brother Peter and children: Abraham, Jane, Marietta & Alden, and sisters and their children in Holland -- Cor Hazekamp: Margreet & Sieneke, and Marieke & Ivo Frings: Tan & Eric. John is predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Margreet Drost and his brother Hans. John was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands on November 17, 1927. After immigrating to Canada in 1952, he was called to the ministry from Hamilton Reformed Church (now Westdale). He studied at Hope College (Holland, MI), and New Brunswick Theological Seminary (New Jersey). He was ordained in the Reformed Church in America and served churches in Lethbridge, Montreal, Wainfleet, and Fruitland from 1960 - 1989. He was the first Director of Camp Shalom / Countryside Camp & Conference Centre from 1976 - 1983. Visitation will be held at Westdale Reformed Church, 201 Paradise Rd. E, Hamilton on Monday, December 2 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A memorial service will held on Tuesday, December 3 at Westdale Reformed Church at 2:00 pm, following a private interment service with family at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener.
