Dear Linda and family!
I am sadden hearing about John.  I only knew him a short time and he always had a helping hand carrying my quilting supplies and machine down to the working area of your home.  May he rest in Peace.

I’ve known John for as long as I can remember.

John and Linda were our neighbours for years but they were much more than neighbours. They lent a helping hand to my parents, helped raise us in our youth, and created countless memories that left a lasting impression on all of us.

John always seemed to know when our parents needed a break, welcoming us into their home with a laugh, a story, or a new adventure. From afternoons spent in his back room playing on the Commodore 64, to laughing until our sides hurt at his endless stream of jokes, to slowly “earning” our way up their VHS shelves as we grew older - John was part of the fabric of our childhood.

Both he and Linda gave me so many “firsts” I’ll never forget: my very first airplane ride, my first musical (Phantom of the Opera), and even front-row seats at a Dudley Moore show - where John teased that I was decades younger than the rest of the crowd, and he wasn’t wrong. We traveled to Aruba together, where he tried (unsuccessfully) to sneak 13-year-old me into a casino with nothing but charm and a grin. 

I was often the “tag-along,” but never once did John or Linda make me feel out of place. John's artistic side came through in drawings of our favourite cartoon characters, which lined our bedroom walls. And when everyone else had tired of playing in the pool with us, John would still be there, letting us leap off his shoulders, laughing right alongside us.

Some of my fondest memories are of our card games. John had a way of distracting us with his quick wit and making us laugh so hard that Linda would have to step in and remind us to refocus. Even then, the laughter never really stopped.

John was the kind of person who could light up a room simply by saying hello. He was witty, sarcastic in the best way, and deeply genuine in how much he cared for the people around him. He wanted every moment with him to be fun, memorable, and filled with laughter.

John, you will be forever missed but never forgotten.

I am saddened to hear of John's passing. I will be out of the city and therefore unable to attend the visitation.
John was on my staff when I was principal at Blessed Sacrament.
I remember him as an outstanding educator.  He was patient and kind to all his students  as well as a great staff member.
My condolences to his family.

RIP John my old Central Secondary classmate and teaching colleague.  Condolences to your family.

To Brian, Marta and the entire Fedak family,
We are so incredibly sorry for your loss.  Your dad was such a special person and we'll always remember his kindness.  Know that we're here for you in anything you need.

Mr. Fedak was a kind-hearted and memorable teacher.  He taught me at St. Luke’s many years ago. He left a warm impression on everyone he taught. Wishing peace and comfort to his family during this time.
