John Tkach

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his parents and his brothers. Survived by his sister Eugenia Shved of the Ukraine and his sister-in-law Zena Tkach, and is also survived by their families. Dearly missed by his good friends John Hordienko and his godchildren Greg Hordienko, Lida Stepchyshyn, and Eugene Korneliuk. A proud member of the Ukrainian War Veterans, John was a retired employee of Stelco and very involved member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Thank you to the staff of The Rosslyn Retirement Home and the doctors and social workers at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Visitation will be held at Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford), Hamilton, on Wednesday December 28th from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Panakhyda at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 855 Barton Street East, Hamilton on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville.
