Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 82. Loving husband of Anđela for 55 years. Cherished father of Katarina (Sinisa) and Tomislav (Vanda) and grandfather of Kristian, Nikolas, Eva, Josip, Tomislav and Daniel. He is survived by his sister Barbara (Luka, pre-deceased), Katarina (Ivan, pre-deceased) and Ana (Ivan, pre-deceased) and numerous nephews and nieces. Josip is pre-deceased by his parents Šimun and Cecilija (nee Štefanec) and siblings Marica, Cveta, Magdalena, Ljubica, Ivan, and Jakob. He will be missed by his extended family and friends in both Canada and Croatia.
Visitation will be at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Monday, July 18 from 5-8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Cross Church. Josip’s remains will be sent to Croatia for burial in Cvetlin, HRV Zagorje.
