Born in Szombathely Hungary, he was predeceased by his parents, Ferenc and Maria Gombos and siblings.
Following the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, where he had been a freedom fighter, at the age of 25 Julius, his wife and daughter emigrated to Canada. A longtime resident of Hamilton, ON, Julius had a rewarding 35-year career designing state-of-the-art assembly and production lines for the growing North American automobile manufacturers.
He is survived by his wife Anastazia (nee. Voros) to whom he was married for 67 years; and by their children, Julia Pelenyi (Michael Vulpe), Julius (Audrey); Stephen; grandchildren, Eryn Gombos and Susie Pelenyi; sister-in-law Ethel Gombos; and nieces and nephews in Hungary, Canada and the United States.
A private service will be held at a later date.
