Karen Candlish

Karen is survived by her loving family of daughters Becky Gardiner and Kelly Murphy, son-in-law Pat Murphy and cherished granddaughter Lily Gardiner. She is survived by her dear sister Audrey Grescoe and lifelong and much younger friend Evelyn Flynn. Predeceased by parents Jack and Kay Patterson, brother Bruce Patterson and brother-in-law Paul Grescoe. Predeceased by Ray Candlish and Don Cayuga.

For her family, Karen was a beacon of warmth and support, always putting others first. Her volunteer work, career, and entrepreneurial spirit were testaments to her caring nature, particularly towards seniors. Those who knew her recall her generosity, compassion and ability to make everyone feel safe and supported.

When not caring for others, Karen enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, a glass of wine and listening to a wide variety of music.

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, in Hamilton on Thursday, November 20, 2025 between 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
