Our loss is great but our gratitude is endless for the cherished life of Lloyd William Browett. With deeply saddened hearts, our family announces the passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Passed away on January 3, 2014, in his 90th year at Macassa Lodge surrounded by his devoted family. Predeceased by his parents Sergeant Major William Browett and mother Carrie (nee Young). Adoring husband of Lois, the love of his life for over 65 years. Dear brother of Roy, Rita, Doris and Betty. Caring father of Lynne, Bill (Lorraine), Lori (Phil), Lisa (Jody) and Brent (Angela). He also cherished his eight grandchildren, Alice, Mike, Amy, Emily, Brock, Taylor, Trent, Brigitte, and five great-grandchildren Raven, Zophia, Naomi, Cohen and Tristan. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was a dedicated employee of the CNR for over four decades and an active member of St. John United Church, the CNR Pensioners Association and Moose Lodge. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served as an airplane mechanic in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He had a profound affection for his family, a weakness for Werther's candies, a love of history, a passion for politics and a fondness for suits and ties. While he leaves behind many heavy hearts, his family and friends are comforted by many wonderful memories of his gentle, caring and kind spirit. Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. East, Hamilton, on Tuesday, January 7th, from 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. John United Church, 195 East 38th St., Hamilton, on Wednesday, January 8th, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. There will be a luncheon reception immediately after the funeral service at the St. John United Church from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
