It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucy, who bravely battled ALS until August 26, 2023. She was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. Lucy's warm smile, infectious laughter, and compassionate nature made her a pillar of strength within our family. Despite the challenges she faced due to ALS, she continued to exude grace and determination, inspiring us all with her unwavering spirit. In addition to her boundless empathy, Lucy was known for her kindness and selflessness. She always extended a helping hand to those in need and offered unwavering support to her loved ones. Her impact on the lives she touched will forever be remembered and treasured. Lucy is survived by her loving husband, Rafael Cruz, with whom she shared a bond that epitomized love, devotion, and strength. Together, they navigated life's challenges with unwavering support for one another. She leaves behind two beautiful children, Lara and Ralph, who were the light of her life. Lucy poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding her children, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and resilience. In addition, she is survived by her devoted family in the Philippines, who held a special place in her heart. Lucy maintained strong connections across continents, reminding us that love knows no distance. As we bid farewell to a remarkable individual, let us remember the joy she brought to our lives and the lessons she taught us through her journey. A visitation to celebrate Lucy's life will be held on August 31, 2023 from 4-7pm at Markey Dermody Funeral Home located at 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, ON. May Lucy's memory live on in our hearts, reminding us to live life with the same courage, kindness and determination that she exemplified. Rest in peace, dear Lucy.
