He is survived and greatly missed by his daughter Margaret, son Stephen, grandchildren Melissa Byce (Kermit), Christopher Byce and Holly Harper (Gal) and great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Kingsley and Vienna. He leaves to mourn his passing, sisters Enid “Betty” Jansen (Bill dec.), Gay Hancock (Jim) and brother Richard (Betty), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Malcolm was predeceased by his beloved wife Frances, infant son David, parents Alfred and Helen Fife, brothers Lawrence and Victor Bent, Ian (Bonnie) and Alfred Fife.
Malcolm was married to the love of his life for 65 years, Frances (nee Duke) and supported her daily throughout her 15 year struggle with Alzheimer’s. His deep Christian faith and lifelong passion for the environment, those less fortunate and beliefs championing equality regarding race, culture and status impacted everyone who knew him and helped shape his descendants’ ideologies. He championed these and many other issues all his life.
Malcolm kept his optimistic outlook, giving nature, and compassion for others to the end. His opinions were often strong as was his level of care and concern for others. He will be sorely missed by his immediate and extended family, and friends. We pray that he is at peace and rejoice that he is finally able to join his beloved wife.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday December 9, 2018 at 1:00pm at Trinity United Church, 4287 William St., Beamsville (Lincoln), ON, L0R 1B0.
In lieu of flowers, please consider The Alzheimer Society or just perform a small act of kindness for someone less fortunate.
