Maria de Lurdes Realejo

Beloved wife and best friend of John, for 53 years. Loving mother of Katherine and Linda (Brad). Proud and loving Avó of Grant, Lucas, and Sabrina. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Fatima, sisters in-law late Juliana (Joe), Lucia (Tony), brothers in-law Joe (Rosemary), Carlos (Maria), and Joe Toste, godchildren Victor (Julie) and Fatima (Steve), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from Portugal, the United States, and Canada.

She was also predeceased by her parents Antero and Maria Andrade and nephew Gary Realejo (2025).

Maria was born in São Miguel, the Azores and came to Canada at the age of 2, with her family. She grew up in Toronto and moved to Hamilton in 1987 where she and John raised their family. She loved gardening, going for walks, taking day trips, camping, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and grand-dogs.

Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Tuesday, April 14th from 5 – 8 pm. The Funeral Service to celebrate her life will take place in the Cresmount Chapel on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 10:30 am. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, 254 Garner Road West, Ancaster.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
