Our  family historian is now gone. Oh how I am missing her. Marie was my  go to person not just for McKenna family history but also Fletcher, McCarthy etc.... She knew them all. A few years ago single flowers appeared at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery no could figure out who put them there. A telephone call went to Marie and she did not know however she would phone someone that might know. She contacted my mother Verna  to see if she knew anything about the flowers.  She laughed and said she did. My brother Bill and I had been searching for four McKenna young siblings and we found them buried in Saint Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery in Waterdown.  My brother said these kids  had probably not had flowers on their graves in over a hundred years. So that is how the flowers got started. Marie took a picture of my brother Bill and I so she could share with her family who we were.  I will miss our lunches at the Erie Beach and dinners at my mothers home. She was a wonderful person and she left me with many great memories.  Cheryl

I also have so many fond memories of Aunt Marie and Uncle Ray coming out to the farm at Joan and Glens. All the laughs, food, catching up on family news etc. Aunt Marie was always on top of any special occasions in our ever going family. She loved the reunions where we gathered, and she always welcomed you with a warm hug and catch up on your family. She surely will be missed by many people but I know she is happy in Uncle Ray's arms as she is tightly hugging him. Until we meet again.

My condolences to the family in this trying time.
I will miss Auntie Marie so very much but take comfort in knowing she with Uncle Ray again. Her journey home would have her surrounded by the love  of those whose were waiting to take her home.
I was truly blessed to have Auntie Marie in my life; we all were. We had such great road trips to Collingwood to spend time with my mom and my siblings on those extra special holiday dinners!
I shall miss our visits and chats immensely and will love her forever.
Til we meet again Auntie Marie.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Marie's passing she was a wonderful caring woman. She will be missed by us all. The service we watched was well done Marie would have been proud. Every stay safe and take care of each other

My sister Marie was a sweet, kind hearted soul who put a smile on  anyone’s face. We all knew her as a  mother to us.  I have fond memories of Marie and Ray visiting us on the weekend on the farm.  They would provide us with a meal along with laughter, cards, and company for the evening.   She was always there for us also aware of any family updates and kept track of everything for us.  When Marie was younger she worked and saved up for her first camera to take pictures and have memories of the family.  She has taken a lot of memory photos in her day,  She was always known for  taking pictures at our family gatherings for generations to come.   I will miss visiting her and spending time with her and hearing about stories from the past.  After Ray passed I enjoyed spending Christmas dinners along with those who Marie welcomed  into her home.  She would enjoy going out for special dinners at the Keg and Chinese takeout  with her sisters,  She will be missed  by everyone who knew her.  With the loss of three siblings, our family has had a huge loss. During this time sadly we are unable to say our peace in person. Aunt Marie was such an amazing lady. She had such a way of making each one of us feel so special. Always remembering special birthdays. She had a beautiful smile and shrugged off when you made a big deal of the work she did for our reunions with her years of writing and keeping track of births, anniversaries,  surgeries etc. she was always on top of it which is not easy with this growing family.
She is going to be missed by us all.

Where do you begin to acknowledge a family member that was so vital to ensure we were all connected and shared the details of nuptials, births, illnesses, special anniversaries, and birthdays for such a large family?  Despite not having children of her own, she embraced each niece and nephew as a wonderful and warm aunt, but almost like a grandmother too.  She can never be replaced, nor will she ever be forgotten as one of the most giving individuals to have graced us with her presence.  It is with mixed emotions that I say farewell as she is now in the company of her loving husband, my uncle Ray who has patiently been waiting for her.  Thank you Aunt Marie xo

I have fond memories of Aunt Marie, one thing is that while growing up she always called on your birthday to have a chat. Another amazing thing was that she kept track of all the updates of all important family events of a very large growing family, and would give the updates to the families each year at the reunion.  She was always kind and had a lovely smile.

 I lived next door to Ray and Marie for 19 years and have many great memories of them. Marie was always so happy to stop and chat, always with a smile. I have always said she was the nicest Lady I knew.

My memories of Aunt Marie was visiting her and Uncle Ray when I was young and playing in the basement. I know it sounds odd but they had swinging doors down there and we played for hours. They also had one of those tall ash trays with the lighter. There are so many memories but I still think of those things. Aunt Marie was the kindest person I have ever met. She remembered everything. From the smallest to biggest events in everyone’s lives. She was an amazing woman. ❤️ Ken, Darlene and Gary and family. 

We were so sad to hear the news about Mrs. Geraghty. She was a kind, considerate lady and was always genuinely happy to see you.

When our son would help with cutting her lawn or shoveling her snow, she would always give him a toonie as a treat.  It was so kind of her and it meant the world to a little boy.

She will be sadly missed and heaven just became a better place.

I spent my childhood (19 years) growing up next door to Marie (and Ray) on East 36th. I'm deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was the sweetest lady, always there to help, offer a kind word, stop and chat and just look out for you. She was always smiling when she saw you, happy to see how you were. I remember spending hours just sitting on Marie's porch with her and Ray, chatting about all sorts of things. I remember we would point out stones in their walkway that looked like things and we would go on their big wooden glider swing out back. I remember how much she loved our dog Scottie and how excited her and Ray would be when we would ask if they would watch her when we weren't going to be home for the day. She even babysat my fish one time! That's how awesome Marie was. She would give us fresh grown tomatoes, buy chocolates off us kids for school fundraisers and her and Ray would even buy our dogs cookies. I have so many fond memories of Marie that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. My sincere condolences to her entire family. She will be greatly missed and certainly never forgotten. May she rest in peace and be with Ray again.
