TRAFFORD, Marjorie Erma Marie (nee Ward). August 10, 1925 – June 1, 2013 Peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer, Marjorie passed into the arms of Jesus. Predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 1981. They were married for 36 wonderful years. Tragically they lost two sons; Stacy in 1971 and Larry in 1993. Precious mother of the Late Larry (Dianne), Paul (Lynn), Linda Rule (David), Sandy Atfield (Paul) of Hinton, Alberta and the late Stacy. Her pride and joy was her family. She was a mother of five, a grandmother of 11; John, Jeff, Paula, Pamela, Penny, Peter, Jim, Martin, Andrea, Laura, Jeff and 21 great grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Gord Ward, the late Leon Ward (Pearl), Audrey Wark (Howard), Elinor Dault (Norm), and Joan Stobbe (the late Ralph). There were many fond memories of “The Store” where the family resided behind at 1211 Upper Sherman Ave. from 1955 – 1965. Mom and Dad enjoyed great times there and after in raising their family on Clonmore Avenue. Strong family bonds, through tragedy, kept us all together. Marjorie was a retired employee of the Hamilton Golf & Country Club where she started in 1980 as a receptionist and retired in 2003. She also volunteered at the Chedoke Hospital for over 30 years and was president and life-member of the volunteer association. She was also an active bowler with the “Golden Girls” at Sherwood Lanes for over 40 years. She led a rich and vital life in the joy of family. She cherished her independence. She was a genuine “People Person” and leaves countless friends and neighbours to honour her memory. Friends may call at the CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service from the West Highland Baptist Church, 1605 Garth Street on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with visitation at the church from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of the Juravinski Hospital (Clinic D) for their care and compassion and also the paramed staff and CCAC home care who were wonderful. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) or to Galcom International. Online condolences and tributes may be made at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com
