Kirkland, Mary Irene, age 91 years , died peacefully at Extendicare Hamilton on Thursday April 4, 2013, loving mother of Fiona (Todd) Steele and Catriona (Ron) Mascarin and dear Nana to Chad, Sarah (Scott), Melissa, Elise (Australia), Great-Nana to Scott and Benjamin. Predeceased by her husband Robert (2006). Irene was a long standing member of Canadian Girl Guides as a Girl Guide Leader and as a Division Commissioner. She volunteered for many years at Chedoke Hospital and was the recipient of the Ontario Govenor General’s Volunteer Award. According to Irene’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Bayview Cemetery. Heartfelt thanks go to Dr. Angela Mazza-Whelan for her many years of wonderful care. Special thanks to Jean Cunanne for the constant compassion and care she gave our Mom. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to all the staff at Extendicare Hamilton, who cared so well for our Mom.
