Mary Ridos

Predeceased by her loving husband Joško of 68 years. Beloved mother of Linda, Joey, Susie (Ted), and Cindy (Claudio). Proud and devoted Grandma of Joey Jr., David, Annie (Braden), Matthew, Nicholas (predeceased), and Katie (Jimmy). Great Grandma of Ella and Bennett.

Mary was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Slovak immigrant parents Michael and Zusana Matey. Our Mom and her parents moved to the north end of Hamilton on Mary Street, where she met her future husband. Mary was a long-distance operator with Bell Canada until she became a mother. She was well known and admired for her artistic ability, for gardening and crafting. Mary enjoyed coffee time with neighbours of West 19th Street, especially Marie, Helen, and Marilyn. Family gatherings were always special with Mom’s magical attention to detail.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Extendicare Hamilton for their loving, kind and compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate both Mary and Joe will be held at Michaelangelo’s, 1555 Upper Ottawa Street, Hamilton on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of choice.
