What we know for certain is that she moved through the world with a kind of energy that stayed with you long after she left a room.
She had a rare and wonderful gift for making people feel seen and heard whether you met her as family, as a friend, as a mentor, or in one of the many different spaces she helped bring to life. She was a steady presence. Someone that helped anchor people and at the same time helped to give them flight…yet another one of her extraordinary gifts.
Maureen made the world around her kinder, gentler, and more hopeful…not through grand gestures, but through the everyday ways she cared, supported, encouraged, believed, and loved.
She wasn’t simply the roles she held or the accomplishments she collected. She was the warm laugh that made a hard day bearable, the voice of reason when things got messy, and also the one to celebrate the mess in the face of reason. She was someone whose influence often showed up quietly…in the lessons she taught without meaning to, in the values she lived rather than stated.
To some, she was a guide. To others, a safe place. To many, a force of nature. And to all of us, she was loved.
As we gather to celebrate her life, we recognize that each person who comes carries their own version of her, one shaped by years, conversations, shared work, inside jokes, and the small, everyday ways she changed a life. Together, those stories form a tapestry far richer than any single narrative.
Though her time with us ended far too soon, the impact she made continues forward…in the people she lifted, the communities she shaped, and the countless moments of compassion, courage, and generosity she wove into the world.
But even these words feel too small. Her legacy is not held in one summary. It is held in all of us.
